It is the day before I leave, and I’m in my routine of the what-I-do-the-day-before-I-leave tasks. I sort out my wallet for just the credit cards I need. I notice that my proof of car insurance card is expired, and I call my agent to fax me a new one. I put another credit and cash card in a safe place, in case I lose my wallet. I make a list of my wallet contents, and the phone numbers of the issuing banks, for when I lose my wallet. I gather a list of the camera equipment I’m taking, with serial numbers, and make duplicate copies to put in all my bags. I have my job folders organized, shooting schedules in each, and my air, car and lodging reservations in a separate folder. My Palm is updated with all the schedule and contact information, and that is synced with the laptop. I make a copy of my eyeglasses prescription, and remember that I want to pack a back-up pair of glasses. I check the weather on-line for Chicago and Cleveland. It looks all clear, my connection should not be a problem. I send emails out to my clients, with my travel information. I’ll head down to AAA later today for road maps.
Am I prepared enough? I think of it as my Department of Redundancy Department. They handle it when something goes awry, as it always does.
