This falls under the Neat New Gizmo category. Or maybe the Who Knew I Needed This category. It’s a sunshield for your laptop, so you can edit photos anywhere regardless of ambient light.
You know the problem—you squirm around in your chair, or look for the darkest corner in a room so you can see what the photos look like on your computer. Ambient light on the screen messes up the ability to edit work on a computer screen. Not that you’d want to do serious color correction work on a laptop, but it’s been known to happen. As it is, most of the time the first view of my work is on my laptop (a Fujitsu Lifebook by the way. I love it.)
With the Thinktank Eclipse I can do it outdoors now, in the shade of my plum tree and with a tall cool one by my side. It’s a cleverly designed piece (as is everything by Thinktank Photo), with a nonskid surface for the computer, and a collapsible hood that fits fits flat in a thin, light and portable self-contained case. I wouldn’t want to leave a computer in it sitting outside on a windy day unattended, as I bet it’s efficient at catching the wind.
