Another example of the scary extremes of retouching in Joerg Colberg’s post, "How extensively are professional modeling photos retouched?" Follow his links. The scary part is that we accept this as normal.
Robin pointed this out—anyone else catch the juxtaposition in the Sunday New York Times Magazine between the anorexia article, immediately followed by the Style photo by Joel-Peter Witkin, of a size 2 nude woman?
I saw the Witkin article... I didn't make the connection with the anorexia piece. I was amazed that his work was in the magazine section- but then it's a shadow of the truly bizarre stuff he's known for. In fact, the magazine images seemed to be 'sanitized' reprises of some of his previous work.
