Ever since seeing Ctein’s post on this camera at Online Photographer, I’ve been keeping my eye out for one. The Walgreens by the movie theatre had "$10 Digital Camera" on its readerboard, so I made Robin buy it for me for Christmas (seeing that Hannakuh ended last week.)
It’s a weird, funky thing, worth every penny and not one more. You can’t frame the shot, you get only 20 of them (at 352x288 resolution), and navigating the menu is about as painful as setting the alarm on your watch in the dark. The focus seems set about 6 feet, and that’s only for the center of the frame. It comes with a USB cable and drivers on a CD for Windows only (sorry, Mac users).
There’s a contingent of toy camera enthusiasts out there for whom this will be a big hit. I’ll have fun with it for a couple of days, and then I’ll probably regift it. Anyone want to offer why they’d be the perfect recipient?
