Last week the latest issue of B&W Magazine came in the mail, with my pictures in it. How cool is that? I have a four page spread in the front part of the book. There were three classes of winners: those that won a Spotlight portfolio in an upcoming issue with a page-long bio, those that got the four page Excellence Awards, and those with the two page Merits. I’m pretty happy with what I saw, especially since I didn’t know which portfolio was going to run: Venice or Stick Pictures?
With my busy assignment schedule, and the personal dance project, this black and white panoramic work is starting to feel remote. It’s what I used to do, almost. I have designs to get back into the darkroom this year, partly so I can resist, for a little longer, the household pressure to make "better" use of the space (somehow a freezer made it into there when I had my back turned), but I suspect I’m in denial. I have shot two rolls of film this year. They were both color.
Photos will link to larger pop-ups.
Congratulations on the publication! Another nice item for your "resume." I like how oddly un-peopled these images are. Great contrast from the light and motion of your dance photos.

I rushed out & bought the magazine (had to look a few places) & I'm very, very impressed with the company Doug keeps.

Congratulations on the B&W portfolio. Great XPan shots! I've always liked the XPan wide angle look... One of my favorite news photographers, Tyler Hicks, took some awesome XPan shots of the tsunami damage in Banda Aceh for a NYT photo spread on the disaster.
