I can't dance! Or at least not for very long. Yikes! The biggest impact from my herniated disk issue has been the referred pain down my arm. It's mostly gone now, and not a big issue in my daily life. But not on the dance floor. I can't swing with my usual vigor (where a partner's weight is centrifugally focussed on my right arm), or do anything with that arm without noticing sensations that are in conflict with the pleasure I ought to be feeling.
It's the High Holy Days of Seattle folk, the Northwest Folklife Festival, now through Monday. It looks like I'm going to have to experience the festival from somewhere else than the 12 hour-a-day contra dance marathon in the Roadhouse, and check out what's happening on the 24 other stages around the Seattle Center.
I watched Ron Mar take the amazing photo which is 6 columns wide on the Seattle Times this morning. He spent over an hour with the two dancers to create the shot. The Times also has a blog on the Festival, with video interviews. In addition to the main website, Folklife has a MySpace page (the Festival is of Female gender, 38 years old, and a Gemini. Who knew?).
