Nightingale in Tacoma from Doug Plummer on Vimeo.
A good project for a snowy day, though in truth I've been pondering how to edit this piece off and on for weeks. I shot this a month ago, during Nightingale's tour through the Northwest. This Vermont-based group is a seminal influence in contemporary contra dance music, and George Marshall is one of the smoothest callers around.
I kept the camera running through one entire dance. I edited out fragments from the 12 minute run time and condensed it into a two minute piece. I laid down the audio first, then built the visuals, but I kept the dance sequence intact. Nightingale kept a rigid tempo through the three tune medley, so I could snatch fragments and plug them in regardless of when they happened. I It's useful shooting a subject that repeats a half dozen times.
