I sent an email to the Dream Assignment contest regarding their Terms and Conditions. I got a personal response within 5 minutes. Here's the exchange.
I am encountering resistance from my contacts who, though they want to support my project, will not agree with your terms and conditions. They are leaving comments on my blog and Facebook page to that effect. The two issues that I see as problematic is the "perpetual license to use, redact, republish, copy, perform and distribute your Content and screen name," which appears to refer to anyone registered on the site, and the automatic opt-in provision in the Privacy terms: "By providing your e-mail address to Companies in a communication initiated by you, you expressly consent to receive e-mails from us, or any applicable subsidiaries."
These are terms that are making it difficult for me to acquire support for my project, and they have the potential to derail the contest for everyone as word gets out about them.
Would you please post a clarification, and change to a voluntary opt-in on communications?

And their response
Doug,
When someone first registers on the site, there is a communication opt-in check box that a user needs to check if they would like us to communicate with them. If they do not check that box, they will receive no communication from us whatsoever and of course, no information will be shared or sold in any way. We do though own all the content on our Web site and will use it how we see fit.
We will not be posting any type of clarification and we already have a voluntary opt-in during registration.
