Synchronicity is odd. I had taken a bit of time off from photography (not deliberately or consciously, it just happened) and as I came back I realized that some of the automatic things I did weren't so automatic anymore. So I have been writing it down and thinking about how to streamline it and make it smoother.

Lightroom is the centerpiece of my workflow and more than 90% of the pictures I consider worth keeping never leave Lightroom in the cycle from importing, to metadata editing, to "developing" the raw file, to printing.

I also bought the Nik Software bundle the other day and I now have a GPS device (not integrated with my camera--I primarily use it on my bicycle); as a result, my options tree has gotten much more complicated.

I only handle a tiny fraction of the number of pictures that you do but I still want things to be as smooth as possible.

I can see that I'm going to have to come to terms with Lightroom, particularly if I start teaching workshops. My muscle memory is all in the Bridge-ACR route, and I I don't have to think about any of it. But I suspect Lightroom is the best solution out there for a cradle to grave digital workflow.
